S ince joining Sirona Dental Systems in 2008, Henning Müller had taken on a variety of roles, such as vice president of Sales for China, Hong Kong, Korea, and ASEAN. He then moved on to the implants business as vice president of Sales for Japan, Australia, New Zealand, India, as well as several markets in southern Europe, before becoming group vice president of Asia Pacific RCO at Dentsply Sirona in July 2017. Sharing with Dental Asia, he talks about digital plans for Asia Pacific, continuing education for dental professionals and Dentsply Sirona’s employees, as well as equipping the next generation of dentists. What is the company’s overall growth and expansion strategy in the region? Asia Pacific is now. Many markets across Asia are becoming increasingly important, not only as emerging markets, but also as trendsetters as they continue to mature. To tap into the growing potential of the region and connect better with local dental professionals, Dentsply Sirona opens showrooms and training centers all over Asia Pacific, e.g. in Singapore’s Post Centre, as well as a state-of-the-art training centre and showroom in Hong Kong in 2018. Our most recent showroom and academy was opened in Jakarta, Indonesia, in June 2019. Dental professionals have responded positively to our new facilities and the live training sessions, demonstrating a keen desire to invest in their careers. In addition to our own training centers we are happy to collaborate with strong, independent partners such as International CEREC Institute (ICI) in Daejeon, South Korea; and the CEREC Asia Training Centre in Taipei, Taiwan to provide education courses. What are Dentsply Sirona’s plans for Asia Pacific in the next three to five years? We see tremendous opportunity in the region and are focusing to increase our presence across the region more and more, e.g. in Indonesia and Vietnam. Our employees have spent a lot of time listening to our customers, and engaging with dental professionals as part of our research process and product development. Digital is the future of dentistry, and technological innovation is the key to providing value for our customers. From a customer service perspective, we are implementing more digital tools to create a better patient experience, and developing more e-commerce solutions. How does Dentsply Sirona differentiate its products in the market? One of the special things that differentiates us is our ability to integrate products from different areas, thus creatingaworkflow that helps to improve the quality of treatment and its clinical results.
