Show Preview DENTAL ASIA NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2018 66 A Fine Strategy for Success: 3 rd ITI Congress South East Asia T he opportunity to attend the “Strategies for success in implant dentistry” is open to all implant dentistry professionals a t t he 3 rd I n t e r na t i ona l Team of Implantology (ITI) Congress South East Asia which is taking place at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Ku a l a L ump u r, Ma l a y s i a , f r om 29 th – 30 th March 2019. The combination of an excellent scientific programme and superb sightseeing location is expected to see a strong attendance of around 450 participants. The Congress comprises a two-day programme of lectures presented by a strong regional and international faculty. This will be preceded by a corporate forum delivered by Straumann and botiss, and currently followed by three workshops on Sunday, 31 st March. Engaging topics The seven-strong faculty is made up of ITI President Stephen Chen from Australia along with Professor Daniel Buser and Professor TimJoda fromSwitzerland, joined by Dr. Jeanette Chua and Dr. Chi-Cheong Yip from Malaysia, Dr. Tian-Ee Seah and Dr. Marlene Teo from Singapore as well as Dr. Suphachai Suphangul from Thailand. Among the topics theywill bediscussingare: • Contemporary concepts in extraction socket healing • Monolithicimplantreconstructions:current state of knowledge and future trends • State-of-the-art surgical techniques in partially edentulous implant patients: • Ultra-short 4mm implants: clinical case reports of Asian patients • Anterior implant aestheticsand thecurious link to Botulinum toxin injection Exciting workshops For the first time, the Congress is offering a number of two-hour workshops on the Sunday following the Congress. Currently, three workshops with limited spaces have been arranged to provide participants with a fascinating and valuable practical element. For theDentalWingsworkshop, participants will be asked to bring along their laptop to find out how to take full advantage of the CoDiagnostix™ intuitive software for guided implant planning and designing of customised and highly precise surgical drill guides. This FDA-approved software provides predictable results as well as helps optimise efficiency and productivity. In the botiss biomaterials workshop, Prof. Dr. Daniel Rothamel will be discussing the use of bone substitute biomaterials with the aim of reducing and even excluding donor site morbidity along with minimising the perioperative stress related to dental implant treatment. He will also be demonstrating easy and advanced grafting procedures. In today ’ s d i g i t a l wor l d , dent a l photography is an essential skill and Dr. Parinya Amornsettachai’s dental photography workshop aims to show participants how to apply dental photography in daily practice as well as in presentations and communication with patients and colleagues. Participants will be taken through the camera’smechanisms and functions, shown how to control them to produce quality images and then focus on taking consistently successful intra and extra-oral images. Poster competition With a poster competition as part of the congress, the organisers are now inviting implant dentistry professionals to submit abstracts by 31 st January 2019. The three highest placed winners of the poster competition will receive: • 1 st prize: A ticket to the ITI World Symposium2020 in Singapore alongwith r e t u r n e c o n om y f l i g h t s a n d accommodation • 2 nd prize: one-year ITI Digital Membership • 3 rd prize: 250 ITI Online Academy Credits The success of the ITI’s first two South East Asia congresses in Bangkok (2013) and Bali (2016) have prepared the ground for similar success with the 3 rd ITI Congress South East Asia in Kuala Lumpur.
