True Colour Technology Enables High Shade Accuracy of Zirconia Materials by Dentsply Sirona
The Cercon family of dental zirconia materials by Dentsply Sirona Prosthetics facilitates stable and long-lasting metal-free restorations with a high level of shade accuracy. The company has harnessed the power of more than 15 years of experience in the field and combined it with its state-of-the-art current True Color Technology to produce a material that now comes in two variants: Cercon ht (highly translucent) and Cercon xt (extra translucent) allow a fine differentiation, depending on the indication and on the expectations of the individual patient
Hanau/Salzburg — Since the turn of the century, the history of prosthetic materials has been largely dominated by zirconia — a true success story. It started with the economically sensible approach of processing materials directly in the dental laboratory. First the classic white Cercon base, followed by the ivory-colored variant Cercon base colored, and the success story continues with the highly translucent Cercon ht. This material is now available in all classic 16 VITA1 shades, which makes it easier for the dental technician to customize the restorations. A monolithic restoration, characterized only by staining, will be not only a sufficient but also an esthetically convincing solution in more cases than ever before. And the build-up of a ceramic veneer is made considerably easier by this “dentin from the machine.”
The new and innovative Cercon xt now offers even higher translucency, approximately 49%, which is about 19% more than Cercon ht. Especially in monolithic restorations, this translates directly into enhanced esthetics. The extra translucent Cercon xt is suitable for crowns and up to three-unit bridges up to the second premolar — an additional material option and an excellent alternative to lithium disilicate. The choice of the most suitable material will depend on the merits of the clinical case, the specific indication, and the preferred adhesive system.
Cercon ht will be used especially if complete veneering is planned. Also, when combining different techniques, the dental technician’s decision will more often be tilted in favor of this highly translucent material, particularly in the esthetic anterior region. Users will attain their restorative goals quickly and safely, whether the planned restoration is monolithic or uses the cut-back technique.
Common to both material variants is their high shade accuracy and reproducibility, thanks to True Color Technology. All blanks are available as pre-shaded blanks in the classic 16 VITA1 shades and additionally in white. Thanks to its standard format (98-mm disks), both Cercon ht and Cercon xt can be used in all popular open CAD/CAM systems. There is also a 105-mm disk for processing in the Brain expert and Brain Xpert milling units.
